Safety Certificates and Pre-Purchase

We know how important it is for you and your family to be safe on the road. Safety certificates (also known as roadworthy certificates) provide a comprehensive report of the condition of the vehicle and are required if you’re:

• Selling a registered vehicle in Queensland
• Transferring registration to a new owner
• Transferring registration from another state to Queensland
• Re-registering an unregistered vehicle

A safety certificate covers a range of basic checks, ensuring a vehicle is safe for operation.

We can even help repair any concerning issues prior to the check to help get your vehicle certified first time round. A safety certificate inspection takes approximately 40–50 minutes after which a detailed written report will be issued. If your car fails the safety inspection, you’ll have 14 days to make any repairs before reinspection. A safety certificate for a car is valid for two months or 2000 km, depending on which comes first.
